Wisconsin’s commercial certification path is category-based. DATCP and UW PAT materials describe this sequence:

Who sits. Anyone pursuing commercial applicator certification for for-hire structural work, including owner-operators who will later hold ICAL and PBL. Minimum age is 16 under ATCP 29.26.

After failure. Trainee registration under ATCP 29.32 is unavailable to individuals who failed a certification exam. 7.1 - Industrial, Institutional, Structural and Health-Related Pest Control; General. 7.3 - Termite Control. Pesticides to prevent or control termites in structures. UW PAT: obtain a base category before supplemental categories; termite work needs 7.3 in addition to structural base planning.

7.4 - Wood Preservation. Protecting wood or wood-based materials against insects, fungi, molds, marine pests, and related organisms.

7.5 - Sewer Root Control. Metam sodium or other fumigants for root growth in sewers.

Each needed category requires its own closed-book exam at 70 percent or higher. All categories held expire simultaneously with the first certification date at five years - batch recertification planning accordingly.

Trainees vs exams.
